A chauffeur charged in the Connecticut slaying of a millionaire real estate developer has been sentenced to six years in prison.
Forty-nine-year-old Carlos Trujillo, of Bridgeport, was found not guilty last year of murdering Andrew Kissel, but jurors were hung on attempted murder.
Trujillo pleaded guilty to attempted murder Friday in Stamford Superior Court under the Alford doctrine, in which a defendant agrees the state has enough evidence for a conviction. Trujillo maintains his innocence.
Kissel was found stabbed to death in his rented mansion in 2006 days before he was to plead guilty to federal fraud charges.
Prosecutors alleged Carlos Trujillo hired his cousin to kill Kissel for money. The cousin pleaded guilty to manslaughter and conspiracy to commit murder.
